DFI Week Five: Collaborate - Sites

Learning about the 'Visible' aspect of Manaikalani today was interesting - especially since we do not use google sites day to day - and had previously only created them and begun using them during the Lockdown in March of 2020. I can see that making our planning, process, outcomes and assessment around Play visible would help our whanau and communities to understand why we value Play in school, and to see the connections between what we are doing when they visit our classroom (and the seemingly chaos) and the NZ Curriculum.

Latham's workshop on creating a site for New Entrants was really helpful - since we do not have 1:1 in our classroom I often find that the skills I am gaining are for my use rather than to share with the children. This was an easy way to see how making multi modal learning sites would work for New Entrants. I created a Google site below using our shared Greedy Cat theme and texts that we put together as a group. I can see the shared google sheets around multi texts becoming a well used resource in our space in the future. I also liked how as a group we discussed different ideas for formatting, including Latham's suggestion of using a google drawing embedded into the site so that it is more tablet/ipad friendly for juniors.
